STEP 1: Basic Physical Connection Check
- Try a different USB port: Unplug the headphones and try a different USB port on a different computer. Avoid using docking stations or front panel ports on the computer case; prioritize using the rear USB ports on the motherboard.
- Replug and replug: Replug the headphones to ensure a secure connection.
- Test with other devices: Plug the headphones into another computer or mobile phone (if an adapter is needed) to check if the headphones themselves work. If other devices also cannot recognize them, the headphones may be faulty.
STEP 2: System Audio Settings Check
- Start --> Settings --> System --> Sound
- Set Output Device (Speakers): Under "Output," click the drop-down menu and select your headphones as the default device (e.g., U17 Headset).
- Set Input Device (Microphone): Under "Input," click the drop-down menu and select your headphone microphone as the default device (e.g., U17 Headset).
- On the same page, click "More sound settings" or "Sound control panel"
- Playback tab: Locate your headphones and select "Set as default device" (e.g., U17 Headset). A green checkmark will appear in the lower right corner.
- Recording tab: USB interface: Locate your headphones and select "Set as default device" (e.g., U17 Headset). A green checkmark will appear in the lower right corner.

STEP 3: Driver Check and Update
- In the Windows search box, type "Device Manager" and open it. Check under "Audio Inputs and Outputs" and "Sound, video and game controllers" for any unknown devices with yellow exclamation marks or question marks, or for any abnormal displays related to your headphones.
- If there is an exclamation mark: Right-click on it and select "Update driver" -> "Search automatically for driver". If this doesn't work, try "Uninstalling the device" and then restarting your computer. The system will automatically reinstall the driver.
