Achieving Clear Calls in Noisy Office Environments
Leave a message
1. Root Cause: Why can't your voice be heard in a noisy environment?
Customers hear a mixture of sounds: office keyboard sounds, colleagues talking, air conditioning noise, etc. are all picked up simultaneously by the headset microphone.
Microphone indiscriminate sound pickup: Ordinary microphones pick up all sounds equally.
2. Hardware Adjustment
- Microphone Position Adjustment: Position the microphone 2-3cm closer to the center of your mouth to reduce ambient interference.
Wrong Example: Positioning the microphone right next to your mouth (prone to splashing), or suspending it near your cheek (blurry audio).
Effect: Directedly captures the human voice, physically blocking out side and back noise.
- Enable the physical noise cancellation switch (if available). Some headphones feature a "physical noise cancellation switch" that blocks ambient sound with a single click.
- Check the seal of the earcups: Press the edge of the earcup to test for sound leakage. If there is a noticeable gap, adjust the curvature of the headband or replace the memory foam earpads.
3. Software Tips
- Call App Noise Reduction: Use the "Background Noise Suppression" setting in apps like Teams/Zoom.
Note: Do not enable this feature simultaneously with the headset's built-in noise reduction function, as this may conflict and cause electrical noise.
- System Audio Enhancement Settings (Windows only): Right-click the volume icon → Sound Settings → Device Properties → "Enhance Audio" and check "Noise Suppression."
4. Purchasing Solutions
- Choosing a unidirectional microphone: This only receives sound directly in front of you.
- Elective headphones with dual-mic noise reduction (ENC): These headphones feature dual microphones, one for communication and one for the inline remote. Using a chip algorithm, these microphones cancel out ambient noise, achieving a noise reduction effect.
Note: The dual-mic noise reduction chip only works with powered USB-A/USB-C headphones.
